MYTH Fertilizing means more mowing.
FACT
It doesn’t have to mean more mowing, however, if you use a fertilizer composed
mainly of quick-release nitrogen the grass will grow faster. Such fertilizers are a feast or famine
diet for grass. A high-quality fertilizer, on the other hand, feeds lawns steadily meaning the grass grows
at a steady pace, too.
ADVICE
Read the label before buying fertilizer to ensure you are getting high-quality.
Look for these terms: extended feeding or slow-release nitrogen which may also be called slowly
available, controlled-release or water-insoluble nitrogen. Pay close attention to the N-P-K reading.
